At Southern California Edison (SCE), we have provided strategy and approach for conducting a pilot for integration of data from smart meters and visualized the data for engineering and planning purposes. The approach developed included the following:   

• Data collection from Smart Meters (Voltage and load Consumption)

• Integrate data with electrical network (Geographic Information System)

• Develop user friendly interfaces for planners and engineers

Utilizing this data set the team was able to achieve the following business objectives: 

• Load and Voltage Profiles are developed and displayed at customer level
• Load aggregation of all end point meters at the transformer level 
• Load aggregation at the circuit level and Heat Map Development 
• Voltage analysis at key nodes of the electrical network
